About Hope Outreach Center
Rooted in Fruitvale. Building toward Brentwood.
A family-founded nonprofit that started by showing up for one block, and grew into a registered 501(c)(3) serving a neighborhood.
Our story
Hope Outreach Center was founded by Chris Diaz to meet neighbors in Oakland's Fruitvale district with dignity — not paperwork. What began as direct, hands-on help on International Blvd has grown into a registered nonprofit running standing programs: overdose-prevention supplies, a weekly food pantry, support for young mothers, and technology classes for seniors.
The approach has stayed the same as the organization has grown: go to where the need is, remove barriers to asking for help, and build programs around what the neighborhood actually tells us it needs.
A note on this page
The founding story above is intentionally brief. A fuller history, impact numbers (families served, Narcan kits distributed, volunteer hours), and board member names are placeholders for Chris to fill in with real, verifiable figures before this page goes live — see the deploy package notes.
Where we work now, and where we're going
Hope Outreach Center currently operates out of Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood, a majority-Latino community on International Blvd. As funding and programs grow, the organization's roadmap calls for a second site in Brentwood, CA (Contra Costa County) — extending the same harm reduction, food access, and senior digital literacy programs to East County families who don't yet have a local option like this one.
